I Always Open This Marketers Emails. Open To Find Out Why.
If you are reading this post, then you are likely curious why I always open this certain marketers emails. :-) I’ll explain in just a moment.
I get a lot of emails. In fact, I continue to weed through the many emails I get targeting and unsubscribing from those that no longer fit my need or interest.
So, why do I always open this one marketer’s email? Her name is Shawn.
I’ve been on her email list for several years. To be honest, in the beginning, there were times that I questioned whether or not I should continue receiving her emails, because I lost interest in reading them.Over time, Shawn has done some rebranding of her business model, website access, and marketing efforts. Sometime last year, she started sharing stories about her day-to-day happenings.
She lives in the woods, loves animals (especially cats), and lives next to spies. :-)
I know about the walks she takes to the lake to see the ducks and newborn turtles and have learned how much she adores her animals via the funny and sometimes sad vet visits and so much more. Shawn has recently had new neighbors move in down the road a bit, which is a ways away because she does live in a wooded area. These neighbors’ actions have given way to a very fun storyline of why she believes that her neighbors are spies.
Do I personally know Shawn? No, well kind of, because she has helped me become a part of her story. She has kept me intrigued via her snippet stories. I always look forward to seeing her name pop up in my email because I’m intrigued to learn what she has to share next.
Every email starts with a fun or relatable story before entering into the juicy details of what she is offering next. She’s a good storyteller. Have I purchased every item she offers or affiliate program items she shares? Not all, but I am an on-going customer. We’ll just leave it at that. LOL!
I share this with y’all because I know how hard everyone works in their business and thought you might be intrigued by something to consider when writing your emails. Stories definitely get emails opened with the potential of getting sales. Of course, offering good quality products are also important as well.

My “Shawn” is Amy Lynn Andrews. Or, was. She doesn’t send emails anymore and it was way more emotional than I expected it to be when I opened her last email ever.
She sent them on Saturday mornings and I would wake up early JUST to see if it had landed in my inbox yet. When she said she was discontinuing the list, I emailed her to beg her not to! LOL
I opened her emails because they delivered massive value without the extra fluff. There was never a single email that failed to deliver huge amounts of value and that is how I try to structure my emails now, because of her! :)

I love that you shared this Lynn. I can so relate to this because I’m finding that I resonate more and more with those that open their emails with stories. In fact, I just responded to Melissa Brown, @sagefortheages after one of her recent emails started with a story. From the first word she drew me in and kept me reading. That’s what got me engaged with her and then I loved how she tied the story in with business related info.
I always open emails from (and 98% of the time I have no interest in what she’s promoting or offering!) is Ash Ambirge. She’s so full of spunk and just doesn’t give an EFF about what others think (she is always the queen of curse and F words lol) and she writes just like that and it always keeps my attention.
There are a handful of people I always open emails from and the one thing they all have in common is the storytelling aspect!

Thank you @tishialee for this shout-out! I’ve been experimenting with a specific way of storytelling in my newsletter and I have gotten such a tremendous response from people. It really works to tell stories and tell them the ‘right’ way.
I open up emails and read almost all from Ash Ambirge, too. Laura Belgray is another whose emails I read regularly. I would say I’ve been at 100% open and read rate this year with Robert Allen’s emails. He does a mix of stories and teaching–I haven’t yet figured out the secret sauce to his emails that make them so addicting, so I keep reading and studying!
Our human brains are wired for stories and we almost can’t help ourselves.
