Cosmos are one of the easiest flowers to grow. In this video I share what to actually do with the flowers after they bloom (besides just admire how beautiful they are!)

    In this video I share:

❤️ The different stages of the cosmos flower

❤️ What stage to cut your cosmos for lasting floral arrangements

❤️ What stage to cut them for seed collecting, and how to never buy cosmos seeds commercially ever again!

    Thanks for this video, @amyneil

Are Cosmos deer-resistant? I have so many deer, I can’t grow many varieties here.

And do the plants like sun or shade? It looks like yours are in an area that is more sun-exposed, but just curious what your experience has been with that variable.

    Thank you!

That’s a great q on deer resistance, I’m actually not sure, but my roses get nibbled on pretty hard this time a year- they are about 50 yards from my cosmos, so pretty close. The cosmos don’t get eaten like the roses. Also, we had mast Japanese beetles eating everything, but they didn’t eat the cosmos.

They want full sun and hot! In milder climates they actually act as perennials. We are in New England and they don’t hold up to any frost. They will self seed though, which is a plus!
