My home office is not completely separate as I don’t have a dedicated room – but I have designed it to feel as separate as I can so that when I step away from my desk, I’m not ‘at work’ if I don’t want to be – even if I can see my desk right there.

The bigger question about how do I avoid household distractions while I work – well I live alone for now so it’s no issue. When that changes this fall, I’ll lean back on my ability to communicate and hold boundaries. (I ran a business as a work at home single mom when my son was young – it can be done!)
